Key features of Glucomart Medtronic Guardian patches:
Material: The first thing you will notice with my patches is the material. It is like nothing you have felt before. Glucomart CGM patches are made from a special fabric blend to provide maximum comfort and durability.
Waterproof: Medtronic Guardian patches are waterproof and will not come off during a bath, shower, heavy a sweating, or while swimming.
Fray-proof: Glucomart Medtronic Guardian patches will never fray. They used an interlocking weave pattern to ensure the edges of the patch stay together. This helps prevent edge lifting and keeps your patch looking fresh for the length of your sensor.
Flexible: Glucomart Medtronic Guardian patches are made with a highly elastic fabric blend. Place your CGM in high movement areas with Glucomart’s special 8-way stretch material that moves with the skin.
Woven: Glucomart has provided the first designer patch made from woven material. Perviously all designer patches were made from rigid non-woven material that had no air or fluid flow. Glucomart patches allow air and water to freely flow through the patch and reach the skin.
Hypoallergenic: Glucomart CGM patches are hypoallergenic on multiple levels. Not only do they have a biologically safe adhesive, their woven nature allows air and water to reach the skin. This reduces sweating and oil build up—2 major causes of skin irritation.
Sectioned backing: The sectioned backing makes it easier to apply the Medtronic Guardian patch.
Designs: Glucomart offers a variety of patterns and designs which helps prevent diabetes burnout and makes site changes more enjoyable for children and adults. The special patch material allows the images on the patches to remain vibrant and clear.
Made by a T1D: All patches are made by me, a Type 1 Diabetic, with the “help” of my toddler. Your purchase allows me to provide for my family and I am very thankful for your support.
Safe: Every company that makes products for children, no matter how small they are, has an obligation to make sure they are safe. All ink used on Glucomart patches has been tested by a third-party laboratory and exceeds safety standards. All elements tested were at non-detectable limits. Lab reports are available by request.
Giving Back: Despite being a small business, Glucomart is a JDRF corporate sponsor. Glucomart also supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Campaign Urging Research for Eosinophilic Diseases—two organizations researching diseases that commonly co-occur with diabetes.
Customer Support: I do my very best to provide excellent customer service. I personally respond to all messages so if there is a large surge of messages it can delay my response time. If you have an urgent matter please follow up if I have not responded as that will bump your message to the top of my list. Below I will answer frequently asked questions.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can you customize a patch for me?
I do customize patches, but unfortunately I do not have the time to do it for everyone. Each month (excluding December) I offer 5 openings for custom patches. It is first come, first serve.
Only part of my international order arrived, what do I do?
International orders are sent in multiple envelopes and they can get separated during transit and arrive on different days. If the rest of your order does not arrive within 3 days please contact me.
Can I purchase just one patch?
I may add this option in the future, but at the moment it is to time consuming for me to sell the patches individually.
Do you take designs requests?
I do and I have created a Facebook Glucomart VIP group that I will run polls so you can vote for new designs.
How do I put the patch on with out wrinkles?
Place the patch over the device with the backing intact. Then remove the backing one section at a time.
How do I remove the patch?
A patch that is strongly adhered can be loosened by soaking in a removal aiding solution. You can use skin tack remover or mix a 1:1 rubbing alcohol/vegetable oil or baby oil solution. Apply solution to patch and wait 5 minutes before attempting removal. You can continue to soak the patch until it can be comfortably removed.
What do I do if my patch is not sticking?
Please contact me. If your patch is not sticking it could mean I have an issue with my machinery. I like to document all patch failures so I can quickly determine if there is an issue on my end. I can also help you troubleshoot issues you are having.
ADHESIVE PATCHES INSTRUCTION GUIDE
DIRECTIONS
1. CLEAN SKIN: Clean skin with soap and water. Using soap containing lotion (moisturizing soap) will affect adhesion. Small amounts of body hair will not affect adhesion. Areas with large amounts of body hair should be clipped close to the skin or shaved for best results.
2. PLACE PATCH: Remove 1 section of the patch and place on skin. Carefully remove the remaining sections 1 at a time until patch is on. Don’t touch the adhesive when applying. Do not lift the patch away from the skin once applied.
3. ACTIVATE ADHESIVE: The patch is heat activated. Rubbing the patch will activate its bonding agent, which allows it to bond with the skin. After applying the patch, rub it from the center outwards. Do not rub from the ends toward the center, or you may cause the ends to peel away from the skin. The adhesive needs 1 hour to bond to the skin. Apply the patch at least one hour before exercising, swimming or bathing.
4. REMOVE PATCH: To remove patch, peel off SLOWLY in the direction of hair growth, which is usually away from the center of the body on the trunk, and in the downward direction on the arms or legs. Most rashes occur from removing patch without a removal aid.
5. REUSING: Some customers choose to reuse the patch. It was made to be disposable, but if you would like to reuse, here are instructions to do so. To reuse the patch, hand wash with dish soap and lay flat to dry. Once patch is completely dry, apply a heavy layer of skin tack adhesive to the skin and let it dry, 1-2 minutes. Place patch over adhesive tack. Apply another layer of tack on top of the patch. Make sure the tack completely saturates the patch. Allow it to fully dry before placing clothes over it to prevent the patch from adhering to clothes, this can take 5-10 minutes. Best results are achieved by using liquid skin adhesive as opposed to skin tack adhesive pads.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
PATCH WON’T STICK: Don’t touch the adhesive when applying. Make sure patch is applied to clean skin with no lotion. Using soap containing lotion (moisturizing soap) will affect adhesion. Make sure patch gets warm enough (body temperature) to activate the adhesive. Adhesive takes ~1 hour to bond to skin. Once bonded it is rated to last 25 days.
PAINFUL REMOVAL: Use skin tack remover or mix a 1:1 rubbing alcohol/vegetable oil or baby oil solution. Apply solution to patch and wait 5 minutes before attempting removal. You can continue to soak the patch until it can be comfortably removed. Most rashes occur from removing patch without a removal aid.
SKIN UNDER PATCH IS ITCHING: Rinse patch with water. Most irritation occurs from sweat irritating the skin under the patch. If irritation does not subside after 30 minutes, remove the patch with a removal aid and clean area with rubbing alcohol. The adhesive is formulated for extended wear on skin and is free from all major allergens. Allergies to this adhesive are very rare. If a rash occurs it is most likely from removing the patch without an adequate removal aid, such as skin tack remover, rubbing alcohol, baby oil, etc.
